THE RACE

The naval tradition of Spetses Island as well as the Greek Revolution for Independence have also contributed to the existence of this race. These proud seafarers are one of the main causes of Greek independence and the shipwrights of the island are still at work today building Aegean Classic Schooners locally known as caiques. In deference to this tradition, a unique feature for a classic yacht race, Aegean Schooners and small lateens will be racing alongside classic yachts. The unique combination of three proud institutions with their common heritage and common classical aesthetics combined with world-class organization create a memorable event.
